Dangers
in booking direct without an Agency

Act becomes ill or has a personal emergency – You’re left without entertainment

Act has an accident on the way - You have no back up

Act is offered a better paying or impressive show - You are dropped for the better gig

Act has an emergency in the family - You’re left with no entertainment

Act decides the money you first negotiated is not enough – He now wants more money – You pay extra to retain your entertainment

Act makes a mistake and double books himself - You end up with the raw end of the deal

Act completely forgets your booking- No entertainment turns up

Act charges you top dollar - more than he is really worth - You pay money you didn’t need to

Act gets the details wrong - has the wrong times - goes to the wrong place

Act is offered a residency, which runs regularly - one of the nights, is on your date - Act drops out on your show

Act decides to change his performance style - You wanted what he did before - You end up with something you don’t want

Acts equipment packs it in - You have no one to turn to

Act knows that this is a one of performance - No need to worry about keeping a high profile –

1. He comes poorly dressed,

2. He abuses your hospitality, eating and drinking at his leisure

3. He takes long breaks

4. He forgets your requests and performs his own show without concern for you or your guests

5. He arrives with a friend etc. - He gets drunk –

6. He demands payment at the beginning before performing; once he has the money he does what he please

End result - the entertainment from hell is now yours

The best of entertainment can turn into the worst nightmare when you decide to book direct

Answers to Questions on Bands

Q What time period do I pay for with a band?
A
The usual booking is a four hour minimum performance, commencing when you want the music to start  to when you want the music to stop and the band can commence packing up to go home.   Example: 8:00 pm to 12:00 midnight. The band will arrive and be set up, sound checked, and ready to play approx 1hr prior to commencement time.  You pay for the 4 hour performance time and not the set up or pull down time.

NOTE: some musical groups will charge for smaller time periods of three hours. Even two and one hour calls are available on selected bands and musicians.

Q. What types of bands are available?

A.

Q Do bands play non stop?
A
No.  Bands take breaks.

Q How long do they play and how long are the breaks?
A
Usually they play for 45min then a 15min. break, or for 30min. then a 10min. break.

Q Can I get the band to play some recorded music during the break?
A Yes, mostly all bands play recorded music during their breaks.

Q My event is a formal occasion.  Will the band dress accordingly?
A Yes,  inform our office of this requirement when placing your booking.

Q We want a band that caters for all types of music.  Can you assist us?
A
Yes, We have over 800+ bands and many perform varieties of musical styles.

Alternatively you may consider a professional DJ as he will cover a wider range of music than a band.

Q Is a band better or should I consider a DJ
A
Each has their place.  A band usually gives better entertainment value but bands cost more and are limited in musical range.  A DJ can play anything you request. Plus he has better dancing time value. Bands focus on being professional entertainers -DJs focus on getting everyone up to dance.

Q I don’t like DJs I prefer live music but I have a limited budget.  Can you help?
A
Yes.  We have a large variety of Duo's also guitar vocal, or keyboard vocal entertainers. Many have fully computerised sound systems which produce the sound of four or five musicians on stage without the cost and expense.  You can book a quality Solo or Duo and get the sound of a full band.

Q I don’t want my band to be loud.  Can I control the volume?
A Yes, but musicians play at varying volumes and quality

Advise your requirements when booking and a suitable band will be arranged.

NOTE: the smaller the group the easier it is to control the volume. Also A DJ may be more suitable as volume levels are easily controlled on his DJ console.

Q Do I have to supply food and drinks?
A
Drinks yes, but food is not usually required unless a band is working long hours or you require large production set ups. If you are able to supply a small meal this is always appreciated by performers.

Q What power requirements do I supply?
A
Normal power outlets for small groups. Larger bands may require a 3 phase power. Check this when you place your booking.

Q I don’t want the band to start playing until later in the night but need it to be set up early.  Is this possible?
A
Yes but you may incur a early set up cost for this. If the band has to come (extra) early and go away and come back later or wait around for a extended period of time, the band may charge extra for this.

Q I am interested in an act to entertain my guests, but I am not sure what to choose.
A
The best way to select a suitable act is visit our office and have one of our consultants show you some of the many and varied acts and shows available. We have over 1000 to select from.

Q I can’t visit your office I live too far away.  How do I select a suitable group?
A
We can advise you of web links to view performers online alternatively some bands etc. may be able to post you a demo CD or email sound files etc. directly to you.

Q Can I see the act before confirming my choice of entertainment for the day?
A
Yes.  We can advise you of suitable locations where selected bands are performing.

NOTE: to save time viewing large numbers of bands, a prior visit to our office will allow you to listen to a variety of bands to ascertain your preferences.

NOTE: Bands will play to their existing audience and have a variety of presentations.  How they perform to a pub/hotel is completely different to how they will perform to a club and then how they will perform for a wedding, private function etc.

Q Will a band play requests?
A
Yes, as long as they have the songs in their repertoire.

Q Can I get a copy of their repertoire?
A
Yes We can ask the band to supply you a copy.

Q Can I tell the band what not to play?
A
Yes.  Bands do not wish to offend and are very willing to delete songs from their performance.

Q What about an emergency?  Say someone is sick or has had an accident?
A
This is very rare, but if this were to occur, alternative entertainment can be organised.

Q My booking is located out of town. Do you supply bands and acts. to our area?
A
Yes.  We supply entertainment throughout Australia and Overseas.  We have many groups, acts etc. within each State, Capital City and Local areas.

Q I have a major event and I am looking for something extra special.
A
We supply national and international acts and shows and we have the best available.

NOTE: national and international acts and shows. require additions of airfare, accommodation, local ground transfers and production requirements etc
